Disappointing Father's Day Cake

Well making this cake was going really well. The middle frosting was coconut and pecan frosting (or german chocolate frosting).
Yumm....it was going so well.
Till I made the frosting for the symbol/lettering.
I should've used buttercream fondant instead. Oh well, it was the effort that counts right?
WBD- World's Best Dad. Why is it like a UPS symbol cuz he's MY mail man. Happy Father's Day Hubby!

Butterflies & Hearts

German Chocolate Bundt cake

Buttercream frosting

If you're seeing brown spots on the frosting, those are crumbs from the cake. Technically its a decorating no-no but I liked the look.

I had little butterflies with the big hearts.

And little hearts with the big butterflies.

The blue frosting has mint extract mixed in with the buttercream frosting

Big heart

Big butterfly

Little heart

Little butterfly

I cleaned the plate as best I could even though I was supposed to do that before I frosted it with the blue frosting.

I could easily put some candy or something in the center but I didn't feel like it, so this is the finished product from today.
I haven't tried to eat it yet but I'll post that later including what others may think.

Cake Burgers!!!

The one with white frosting, white frosting = mayo

Yellow=mustard, red=ketchup, green=lettuce

The lettuce look like wings huh?

Brown= A1 sauce

Sorry to show the pictures backward starting from first made and stuff but oh well. These are cake burgers. My mother made these a looooong time ago, and I wanted some for my birthday. I didn't practice my skills of decorating like I wanted but it worked out ok. And fyi I don't really mean the frosting is mustard or ketchup, just representing. Fun either way!!!

Baby Shower Teddy

My sister's Baby Shower Bear for their little boy.
This bear took about 2 and 1/2 hours and very fun to make.

Fondant & Shower Prep

This bear was used for the baby shower for my sister a few days later.
Melissa's rose (blue even though it was actually purple) Mine was the white rose

I made a Fondant Bear, Melissa made the eyes, nose and hat.

Making fondant was a messy job, but we made a GREAT tasting fondant, thanks to the internet.
Buttercream Fondant.

Shells 2

Shells aren't easy for me so we've dones them again this time on a round cake and a larger tip.
Plus we made pudding to go in the middle and we tried a new recipe for frosting. Yummy stuff.

Shells

Melissa Doebler and I have gotten together and she agreed to teach me how to decorate cakes. My first lesson was shells.

My Son's 2nd B-day

This was the first time decorating a cake with no help from a professional. So don't judge the bad work too quickly.
